Leveraging your Emotional Intelligence. Great leaders understand themselves and the people they manage. They are able to recognize their own feelings and those of others, are self-motivated, and understand the needs and motivators of others. Recent research has shown that emotional intelligence is twice as important as IQ in determining future business and career success. This presentation focuses on emotional intelligence, self-awareness and successfully relating to others.
Presenter: Lou Christie, SPHR, President/CEO of LMC Management Services, a veteran owned Human Resources and Management consulting firm.
Lou has been a human resources practitioner for over three decades (thirty years). He began his HR career as a Personnel Administrator with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Personnel Administration and Industrial Relations. As a career HR generalist, he has worked in 5 major industries; oil & gas, textile, lumber retail, aircraft and air cargo, and healthcare. .
Lou has served and continues to serve as leader in both his professional and personal endeavors. A few of his accomplishment are he organized the HR Directors of the 638 Native Health Organization of Alaska, served as City of Bethel, AK Arbitrator; has served ASHRM, AK HR State Council, and every chair in the Texas Oklahoma Personnel Association. Additionally he was a board member of Susitna Council of Girl Scouts, Anchorage AK and Chair of San Antonio Area Girl Scouts Cookie Program & assistant troop leader; served as an advisor to Judson Independent School District Vocational Council and Wichita Falls Independent School District Vocational Council; and participated with the CETA (Comprehensive Education Training Act) and PIC (Private Industry Council) programs.
Presently Lou has his Masters in Organization Management. He is an Adjunct Professor at Alaska Pacific University. He is certified by Talent Smart as an Emotional Intelligence Instructor and by Case Western Reserve University - Weatherhead School of Management as an Appreciative Inquiry facilitator. He is president of the Alaska American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
