In this session, participants will learn and better understand the world of wellness. They will get specific examples of each type of incentive program and the parameters by which they can vary and still be in compliance.  Participants should leave the session having a much better idea of what is allowed and what isn’t as well as some creative (and legal) ideas to incent workers in their wellness programs.

Learning objectives:

• Understand when new regulations affecting wellness programs take effect

• Understand what types of wellness programs fall under these regulations

• Identify the different types of incentive programs and how to design them to be in compliance with impending ACA and HIPAA regulations

• Be able to audit/evaluate current or planned wellness programing and incentive structures to identify areas of risk and how to modify to make them comply with regulations.

Cara Fox Fairbanks is a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) and a Certified Wellness Program Manager (CWPM). She is the CEO and founder of WhiteWater Wellness LLC. She has dual degrees in psychology and economics, as well as a certificate in personnel management. Cara has human resources and/or management experience in a variety of industries including tourism, market research for financial services and high technology, engineering, travel & transportation, and insurance/employee benefits. She is a long-time board member of the Anchorage Society for Human Resource Management, currently serving as the Vice President of Membership, and is active in the Alaska Association of Health Underwriters.
