    As an HR professional, you are uniquely positioned to shape the development of federal and state workplace laws and regulations. Learn about the power of advocacy engagement and educating lawmakers on all things work, and how HR can best communicate on behalf of employers and employees to protect and advance the profession this year.
     
    This webcast will take you through the basic steps of:
     
    • Becoming involved in the public policy process;
    • Best practices for contacting, meeting, and building lasting relationships with elected officials and their staffs; and
    • Effective ways of communicating the HR professional’s perspective on key workplace issues.

    Meredith Nethercutt | Director, Member Advocacy, SHRM

    Meredith Nethercutt is the director of member advocacy at the Society for Human Resource Management. Overseeing SHRM’s Advocacy Team (A-Team) network of volunteer advocates, Meredith facilitates relationships between SHRM members and lawmakers to strengthen the Society’s advocacy objectives in legislative districts nationwide. In addition, Meredith provides training and guidance to HR advocates on how to effectively communicate with lawmakers regarding workplace policies.

    Prior to joining SHRM, Meredith most recently oversaw grassroots advocacy at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the International Franchise Association (IFA) and the National Restaurant Association.

    Meredith received a Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University. She resides in Denver, CO.
