Please see below for our finalized agenda with session descriptions and details on our amazing line up of speakers:

    Thursday, Sept. 24th, 2020

    9:00am-10:00am           Welcome Remarks

Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., President, Society for Human Resource Management

Developing and Implementing an Outward Mindset

Mindset is how we see others and the world. It is the lens through which we see our work, relationships, and our world. From an inward mindset, we focus only on our own goals and objectives, without consideration for our impact on others. An outward mindset allows you to see new possibilities and solutions.

Presenter: Corey Leneker, MPA, Executive Leadership Coach & Leadership Consultant

10:00am-10:30am         Break & Networking with Sponsors

10:30am-11:30am         Diverse Teams Make Better Products, Services and Profits

Many diverse talent candidates are undervalued and underestimated. Steven Matly knows about being underestimated. After dropping out of high school, he became an entrepreneur who turned $5,000 into businesses generating six-figures. Matly then launched his own diversity and inclusion firm that helps organizations hire diverse talent and better understand how, “if we don’t consciously include, we will unconsciously exclude.” Steven’s story will motivate you to commit to developing a more diverse talent pool and better teams.

Presenter: Steven Matly, Founder & CEO, SM Diversity

11:30am-11:50am         Enhance Your HR Career Through SHRM

    Presenter: Nancy Conway, SHRM

11:50am-12:30pm         Lunch & Roundtable Benefits Provider Discussion

Join us for a discussion lead by our benefit provider partners. We will discuss benefit trends and new programs with our subject matter experts.

12:30pm-1:30pm           Talent Acquisition & Remote Hiring: The New Normal

Building a pipeline of talent was a challenge before our new normal; building a solid stream of top talent is now even more challenging. Using new tools to scout talent is critical to identifying the best active candidates. Leveraging remote tools to facilitate the hiring process can pose unique challenges but can also create a new and innovative way to ensure a successful hire.

Presenter: Shereen R. Rodrigues, MBA, PHR, Talent Acquisition Manager, Otak

1:30pm-1:45pm             Break & Networking with Sponsors

1:45pm-2:45pm             Retention & Productivity: How to Engage Remote Staff

Motivating and engaging employees at all levels continues to become more difficult. This experienced panel of HR professionals will share their best practices and strategies for ensuring your employees are actively engaged in their roles and with their teams. Our panelists will share innovative ways to navigate the new landscape and engage remote employees.
Presenters: Malika Klingler, PRR, Margaret Henning Farber, SPHR, CCP, InSignia Federal Group, Dena Patton, MS, DELL

    2:45pm-3:00pm             Closing Comments

We are thrilled to share that conference attendees will have a chance to win a complimentary SHRM People Manager Qualification (PMQ) Program, valued at $995! The program provides virtual learning experiences for your People Managers to drive positive workplace culture through better management practices. More information about SHRM's PMQ program is available at this link!

We were disappointed to not be able to conduct our Alaska State HR Conference this past Spring. However, our conference planning team has been hard at work, developing ways for our Chapter Members to continue to connect, learn and engage.

While we will miss gathering in person with our conference attendees, we are excited to provide quality conference content that generates continuing education credits and unique networking opportunities. This Digital Summit will now be accessible to a wider audience than ever before. The event registration is now live!

Please also MARK YOUR CALENDARS for our 2021 LIVE Conference to be held September 22nd-24th, 2021 at the Anchorage Hilton!
