Employment & the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
This webinar will feature discussion about the ADA and the obligations this federal law places on employers with regards to providing reasonable accommodations for their employees with disabilities. We will answer such questions as: What is a disability? What is a reasonable accommodation? What are the limits to providing an accommodation in the workplace, and what are the guidelines for service animals in the workplace?
Participants will gain the following learning objectives:
- Define disability per the ADA
- Review the employment title of the ADA, including covered entities, rights of the individual, reasonable accommodation, and limitations on accommodation
- Explain service animals as they relate to the employment title of the ADA
- Identify resources for further information and guidance on employment and the ADA
Speaker: Julie Brannon
Julie Brannon has over 40 years of professional experience in the fields of social work, vocational rehabilitation, education, and program management. She has been blind since birth, and has been involved in working within a consumer organization of the blind for many years, currently serving as the Washington Council of the Blind president.
